wow, okay, thank you so much for this anon. what a little detective you are.
So, 2005, Gerard and Frank played part of a Carpenters’ song on stage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpEp9A7wxsw
So now we know that both F and G were into the Carpenters before Gerard and Lindsey even got together. so you can bet that that song “Superstar” that Gerard sang on stage during Danger Days held some meaning between the two of them. and yes, i know Gerard sings it to Lindsey when she’s sad. but if you watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNCpH88x3c8 and then tell me that you can’t see that the song holds some serious sentimental value to Frank after he goes over to Gerard and starts hugging his guitar as he watches G sing the song, then i’m sorry but there is something seriously wrong with you.
I mean just look at some of the lyrics:
"Long ago and oh so far away
I fell in love with you before the second show
Your guitar, makes such a sad sad sound”
we already know that Frank and Gerard knew each other before Frank joined the band… so maybe Gerard really did fall in love with Frank “before the second show” so-to-speak. i’m not saying that’s exactly what happened since as Gerard didn’t write the lyrics, but you get my point. and might i add that when i googled the lyrics, they are slightly different to the ones Gerard sings. so maybe he changed them to fit their situation i dunno.
But this is probably the most important thing:
if you go to 00:48 on the second video, when Gerard sings “don’t you remember when you told me you loved me, baby?”, Frank nods his head.
HE. NODS. HIS. HEAD!
He is acknowledging that he remembers when he told Gerard he loved him! like come on people! how can anyone say nothing ever happened between these two? i have no idea.
Anyways, the song just screams F/G not G/L. Maybe Frank and Gerard used to say how the lyrics sounded just like their situation so they made it “their song”. who knows? i don’t. but no one can deny that that song means a hell of a lot to Frank and Gerard. especially now that we know that like many other bands they share a liking of, the Carpenters was also one of them, way before Lynz was even in the picture.
